1 Timothy 5:6 tells us that she who lives in pleasure is dead while she lives. 1 Cor. 10:7 speaks of idolatry and then quotes an Old Testament passage by stating they sat down to eat, and rose up to play. 2 Thes. 2:11,12 tells us that God sends a great delusion and informs us that the delusion comes on those who have a hankering for pleasure.
Pleasure is the opposite of persecution and tribulation. God never promises pleasure, but He does promise persecution and tribulation. So then where is the line that must be drawn, and what must be done to run the race, and stay focused on the prize?
